January

Megaforce advertise in Billboard about upcoming releases. After pressure from Atlantic, who had recently signed Megaforce to a worldwide distribution agreement, the forthcoming album is credited to Ace Frehley and given the title Frehley's Comet. Eddie Trunk: "Frehley's Comet was always supposed to be a band, not a solo project. The only reason the first record even said 'Ace Frehley' on the front cover was because Atlantic got nervous that it wouldn't sell without it".

Spring

Ace signs a marketing agreement with Concrete Management & Marketing. Drummer Billy Ward is brought in. Jeff Torrance (or possibly Geoff Torrens) stepped in to manage Ace/Frehley's Comet around this time.

April

A video for Into the Night is recorded in San Fransisco (around the intersection of Fifth and Market street) the last week of April. The song is released to radio around the same time.

May

The debut album Frehley's Comet is released on May 5. It enters Billboard's Top Pop Albums chart at number 118 the week ending May 23.

June

The video for Into The Night premiers on MTV. Touring starts in Poughkeepsie, New York, on June 20. That same date Frehley's Comet peaks at number 43 on Billboard's Top Pop Albums.

July

Frehley's Comet spend two days in Toronto (July 5 and 6) filming a video for Rock Soldiers. Production company Champagne Pictures has an open call in The Toronto Star for "100 male teenagers aged 14 to 17 [...] Applicants must own a guitar and be able to play it". The video was produced by Allen Weinrib and directed by Steven Surjik.

August

The video for Rock Soldiers premiers on MTV. On August 30 Billy Ward plays his last show with the band.

September

Anton Fig temporarily returns and the show in Chicago, Illinois on September 4 is recorded for a future live album. John Regan gets Jamie Oldaker who he had worked with in Peter Frampton's band as a replacement. Oldaker's first show is on September 22 in Miami Beach, Florida.

Fall

Jeff Torrence (Geoff Torrens) is let go, in his stead comes John Cleary to manage Ace and the band.

November

Frehley's Comet is forced to pull out of the Alice Cooper tour. The band weren't making enough money to pay their expenses.
