February

The EP Live +1 is released. It debuts on Billboard's Top Pop Albums at number 142. The band enter Mediasound studios to record a follow-up album which they self-produce with engineer Scott Mabuchi. Todd: "Ace got sick during Second Sighting, which left him completely absent during much of its production". Ace was not only sick, he was also completely off the wagon. In later interviews Ace would hint at having been so "ill" during recording that he couldn't really play.

March

Frehley's Comet do their only show outside of the US and Canada at Hammersmith Odeon in London, England on March 19. The show is filmed for future release. Two performance videos—It's Over Now and Fallen Angel—are also recorded. (It's Over Now was directed by John Mills and produced by Charlotte Metcalf for Metcalf & Mills.) Live + 1 peaks at number 84 on Billboard's Top Pop Albums.

April

The video for Insane is shot but it doesn't appear to have been completed until early June. The video was directed by Mick Rock and produced by Ernie Schultz for C&C Visual.

May

Second Sighting is released. Megaforce host a listening party at the Cat Club prior to its release.

June

Second Sighting debuts on Billboard's Top Pop Albums at number 196. Frehley's Comet is part of a one-hour Metalshop (MJI Broadcasting) episode which is syndicated. It features interviews with Ace and Tod plus the songs Insane and Juvenile Delinquent. Frehley's Comet play The Limelight in New York on June 26. For an encore the band is joined by Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley for a jam on Deuce.

July

Touring as support for Iron Maiden begins. Second Sighting peaks at number 81 on Billboard's Top Pop Albums.

August

The band drops out of the Iron Maiden tour. Once again the issue was money. The video for It's Over Now premiers on MTV.

December

Frehley's Comet record a radio spot for RADD (Recording artists Against Drunk Driving). The name Frehley's Comet would last a little while longer but both Oldaker and Howarth quit soon after.
