Ace officially leaves KISS.

August

Ace is sentenced. He is fined $600—$500 for driving while intoxicated and $100 for reckless driving—and has his license suspended for six months after the wild car chase on May 21. He is also ordered to get counseling.

Summer/Fall

Ace, John Regan and Anton Fig start jamming together at Ace's house in Connecticut. "We had no plans to put a band together, and it was just three people. Like just getting together, as we did in the garage in the old days [and] play Rock N Roll". Based on Ace's recollections in late 1985 there may have been some tracks recorded at Ace in the Hole around this time, first with Eddie Kramer and then Vini Poncia.

September

Ace records the guitar solo to Bump And Grind on the Wendy O' Williams album that Gene Simmons is producing.

November

Bill Baker writes in his column The World of Music that Ace "is going to record his own album". On November 27 Ace is once again arrested for driving while intoxicated.
