The ad (see below) still had Gun & Roses [sic.] but the calendar entries all mention Faster Pussycat instead.
Judging by their tour t-shirt, Y & T started the Contagious Tour the night before in Corpus Christi, TX and it's unclear why Frehley's Comet wasn't on that bill (if the show did indeed occur). The concert listings in Circus had Frehley's Comet playing Tulsa, OK on August 7 but their press lead times were horrendous and there is nothing to suggest that they played there.

According to Billboard the lineup of the August 9 show was "Ace Frehley, TNT, Guns n' Roses, Gary Moore, Loudness, and Y&T". However, two days before this show, a feature in the El Paso Times about the August 14 show noted that "Faster Pussycat, who replaced Guns 'N' Roses, is the third group on the evening's roster". (El Paso Times of El Paso, TX 87-08-07, Extra! Extra! section p. 3) Also, the eminent site Rock in Houston—from which the photos presented below are culled—suggests that Guns n' Roses first played Houston in 1992.
The ticket stub billed the event as Metal Mania but the billboard at Sam Houston Coliseum called the show Metal Madness. The Houston Coliseum billboard only listed Y & T and Ace Frehley.

The Austin press barely mentioned Frehley's Comet leading up to the show. Gary Moore got a decent write-up in The Austin-American Statesman (87-08-11 p. B-13) but, as seen below, Ace was once again mis-spelled, this time as Frahley. Y & T got a nice feature article in the 87-08-12 edition of the same paper (p. B-10) and by that time they got the Frehley name right.

Guns N' Roses was originally slated to be the second opener—and was noted a such in the Arizona Republic as late as August 7—but were replaced by Faster Pussycat.
Oddly enough, as seen below this show was never added to the Celebrity Theatre ads but a show by revolving-door boy-band Menudeo was. As they had been and would continue to be, The Comet was variously billed as Ace Frehley or Ace Frehley's Comet.

The Sacramento Bee ran an interview with Ace on 87-08-16 (Encore section p. 13-14) which managed to say very little. Lizz Fisher's review of the show devoted a single paragraph to Frehley's Comet. Ace apparently burned his arm during his solo spot. (Comet Watch vol. 11 p. 3)

The band did another in-store appearance, this one at The Wherehouse on Sunset Boulevard. I would like to reference the ad for said appearance and the photos from the event, but the owner of these photos have decided against their use for this site.
Duncan Strauss's review of the show in the Los Angeles Times more or less slammed Y&T while giving The Comet at least one thumb up.

This second show was added fairly late. As seen above the August 2 version of the ad still only listed August 22 and tickets for this second show didn't go on sale until Monday, August 10.
Peter joined the band on stage for a rendition of Deuce. There was an interview with Ace on the show Rockline on KLOS-FM (95.5) the day after this show.

Calendar entries for this show in the Gazette Telegraph (see below) listed the wonderful misprint/misunderstanding that the second opening act was a band called "Dogs and Roses". Todd Caudle's review summed the Frehley's Comet part of the show up as "so-so".
